Rome is the only european capital city still preserving the acient wall system partialy intact. Walls have always been the emblem of the hystory of Rome as defense system and boundary line between the city and the surrounding. The Aurelian Walls were builted among the 270 and the 275 AD as desired by the Emperor Aureliano to defend Rome, the capital city of the empire, from barbarian attacks.Asinaria gate is one of the entrance through the walls at few meters distance from the main gate

St John. Its name recalls the acient Asinaria road antecedent the construction of the walls and connected with Tuscolana road, one of the main street in Rome.
